About Camp

Why Support Us?

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Here, you’ll find pictures, video and words from the people who have experienced camp firsthand!

What they say:

”They’re wonderful to the kids. They have arts and crafts, a swimming pool, boats and they do lots of fun things. There’s a volunteer for each camper – they’re their arms and legs.

When he’s there he’s just like everyone else.”

Betsy, a mom of a camper

“Our daughter Tracy, who had Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) attended MDA Camp from age 5 until age 25. This was the most important week out of the year.

She made life long friends and experienced camp opportunities she never would have otherwise.

The campers shared; laughed and talked about their camp experience (swimming, sports, horses, games, crafts, late night conversations and [just] being with their peers). They were empowered as a person. Tracy was a peer counselor at camp the last 4 years of her life. MDA provided this wonderful week that brought pure joy!”

Richard, former MDA Patient Service Coordinator and parent of a former camper

“As a mom and caregiver of a child born with Congenital Muscular Dystrophy, I’m very thankful today to (everyone) for raising money to send our special kids to fabulous camps! This is a gift I’m looking forward to [this summer] and my daughter will love it too!”

Bonnie, parent of a camper

What they gain:

Independence         Teamwork         Tolerance         Togetherness            Fun
