I have a dream:
There is a magical place where children with muscular dystrophy, a progressive and often fatal genetic disease which limits their ability to walk, talk and play, just like any other kid. For one week every summer, thousands of these special people get that opportunity thanks to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
My local MDA summer camp in Spring Valley, NY plays host to 70 campers every year in a fully accessible, fully supervised environment that is free of charge to the families of these kids. Barriers are broken and lasting friendships are made.
From horseback riding, swimming and basketball to arts and crafts cookouts and talent shows, children attending are able to participate and experience what many of them call “the best week of the summer”.
Since 2005, I have sent over 60 children to this special place, raising over $46,459 from family, friends, classmates and the community.
In 2009, my goal is to send all 70 children to camp.
But I need your help to make this dream a reality.
Ready to change a child’s life? Then come join me.
